Alissa and I went to the live show last night and I couldn’t be happier. Sleeping on the street from Thursday night wasn’t fully necessary since we ended up getting the shit seats and people who were 40 and up in line ended up getting awesome ones, but I’m glad that I went regardless.
First off, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s abs. Hot damn. I literally couldn’t believe that that monologue was happening (if you’ve known me for long enough you know that I have the biggest lady boner for both JGL and Magic Mike). I almost wish I had a fistful of dollars haha.
Second, the cold open was written by Chris Kelly (yay sketch 201!) who the people sitting next to me were fangirling over while I was silently giggling to myself. I was surprised he managed to wing a non-political cold open, which is always refreshing in my opinion.
Also, the final sketch (the one that got cut short) was written by Neil Casey (yay sketch 101!) which made me endlessly happy watching him watch his second sketch in a row air (which, getting a sketch in air is hard for any writer, but for a writer who’s brand spankin’ new, that’s amazing). Wish it hadn’t got cut short, but that’s what happens with poor time management. I’m hoping the full version from dress will make it online.
As much as I don’t still get goosebumps every time I enter 8H (this was my 4th time seeing it live), I am still constantly amazed and enamored by the whole process of it all. Last night was my first time doing live vs. dress since my first time, so I was all giddy over the heightened excitement in the air. Ugh, I love this show so fucking much.
